Strategic restructuring at MOSOLF

At the beginning of one of the year, comprehensive restructurings are being made within the company structure at one of the leading systems service providers for the automotive industry in Europe. In order to make the processes lean and use synergy effects efficiently, various business units are merged. In the future, the activities will be covered by the two business units “Logistics & Services” and “Special Vehicles”, supported by the new company “MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services GmbH”.

The newly created business unit “Logistics & Services” is responsible for the releasing areas, i.e. the vehicle takeover at the end of production, and transport logistics. More than 1,000 specialised transporters and two RoRo single-goers are available at 41 locations throughout Europe to offer tailor-made, stable and sustainable concept solutions. Other service areas also include site logistics, which covers all relevant service measures from the storage of the vehicles to the end customer, as well as retail solutions at more than 70 locations, which offer tailored services for car dealerships and branches. In addition, extensive technical and service is carried out at all MOSOLF locations, from optical vehicle processing to technical repairs for vehicles. In the future, the business unit will thus cover the entire value chain of automotive logistics: from end of connection to retailers or end customers.

The “Special Vehicles” business unit is a specialist in special vehicle construction in the areas of internal security, defence, civil and disaster control as well as for business and municipalities. In addition to planning and sample construction, the business unit is also characterised by high-quality series production. To achieve the high standards, many important mechanical and electronic components from MOSOLF are manufactured by itself, partly in innovative additive processes. Even after delivery, the highly qualified MOSOLF employees will be provided with customers with comprehensive technical and services.

The newly created business development company “MOSOLF Port Logictics & Services GmbH” (MPLS) is responsible for the three maritime locations of the MOSOLF Group, the ports of Cuxhaven, Wilhelmshaven and Zeebrugge. With the creation of MPLS, the group underlines the importance of the ever-increasing activities in the strategically relevant field of port logistics. Services are possible at the individual locations for both importers and exporters, in addition to short-sea shipping, but also in the area of deep sea shipping. In addition to the standard services of the MOSOLF Group, additional comprehensive transport processing, including ship conditions and unloading, will be offered at the port locations.

“The restructuring of the business units, which will be completed at the beginning of 2024, are the result of a process that strategically ideally sets up the MOSOLF Group for the future requirements of the industry. The use of the existing synergy effects, which also benefit our customers and partners, also create new opportunities for innovation and integration,” says Dr. Jörg Mosolf, CEO of the MOSOLF Group, to the steps now taken. “MONSOLF Port Logistics & Services GmbH also gives us further action and service options in the field of dynamically developing automotive logistics in the maritime environment,” says Dr. Mosolf continues.
